The dream of driving from Beijing to Shanghai on a single charge is now a reality. Audi's new A6 e-tron series, with its groundbreaking range, redefines expectations for electric vehicles and promises true driving freedom.

Audi Japan has officially launched the highly anticipated A6 e-tron series, including the sportier S6 e-tron variants. Available through 126 authorized dealerships nationwide, these models represent Audi's latest breakthrough in luxury electric mobility.

As the second model built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture developed jointly with Porsche, the A6 e-tron introduces a first-of-its-kind flat floor design. This innovation enhances passenger comfort while delivering exceptional handling, extended range, remarkable efficiency, rapid charging capability, and spacious interiors rivaling premium sedans.

The lineup includes two body styles: the A6 Sportback e-tron performance four-door coupe and A6 Avant e-tron performance wagon. Performance-oriented buyers can opt for the S6 Sportback e-tron quattro or S6 Avant e-tron models.

The A6 e-tron's exterior showcases striking proportions with optimized aerodynamics, projecting both power and athleticism. Inside, functional materials wrap from door to dashboard in a cocoon-like embrace. Advanced displays arranged ergonomically create a fully digital cockpit that blends interior and exterior aesthetics seamlessly.

Innovative features include second-generation virtual side mirrors, a smart panoramic glass roof with adjustable opacity, and illuminated rear Audi rings that glow red for distinctive nighttime visibility.

The A6 Sportback e-tron performance achieves 769 km (WLTC), while the Avant version reaches 734 km. With the optional Range Plus package, the Sportback extends to an industry-leading 846 km - the longest range of any EV currently available in Japan. This remarkable efficiency stems from Audi's best-ever aerodynamic design, with the Sportback boasting a drag coefficient of just 0.21.

The A6 e-tron's lighting system bridges physical and digital worlds. Matrix LED headlights with 45 segments offer eight selectable signatures, while optional second-generation OLED taillights use 450 segments to create dynamic displays. Proximity-sensing functionality adds safety by projecting warning symbols when hazards are detected.

The cabin features a 3D layered design with an 11.9-inch virtual cockpit and 14.5-inch curved OLED touchscreen. An optional 10.9-inch passenger display offers entertainment without distracting the driver. The system runs on Android Automotive OS, allowing access to third-party apps through an expanding digital marketplace.

An available augmented reality head-up display projects navigation cues onto the windshield at a virtual 200-meter distance, minimizing eye movement. The interior's wrap-around design uses functional materials strategically, with soft surfaces in comfort zones and high-gloss controls for operational clarity.

The rear-wheel-drive A6 e-tron models deliver 280 kW (375 hp), accelerating 0-100 km/h in 5.4 seconds. The S6 variants' dual-motor quattro system produces 405 kW (543 hp) for 3.9-second sprints. All models use a 100 kWh battery (94.9 kWh usable) that charges from 10-80% in about 35 minutes at 135 kW.

Advanced regenerative braking recovers up to 220 kW, handling 95% of daily deceleration. Drivers can choose between two recuperation levels or coasting, with a "B" mode enabling one-pedal driving.

Optional adaptive air suspension adjusts ride height in four stages, lowering 20 mm in Efficiency mode to improve aerodynamics. The S6 models feature rear-biased torque distribution and wider rear tires for enhanced stability. Both offer 502 liters of cargo space (expandable to 1,330-1,442 liters), plus a 27-liter frunk.

New owners receive one year of free charging through the Premium Charging Alliance network, waiving the standard ¥1,800 monthly fee and usage charges. The A6 e-tron series also qualifies for Japan's Clean Energy Vehicle subsidies, offering up to ¥688,000 for private buyers.
